Building Something Hot Page 21

“That’s exactly how he treated me when I was pregnant. I think that’s where Kason learned his manners. They are so helpful and caring while you’re pregnant. Enjoy it while it lasts!” Raelynn chuckled.

Bruce brought her juice back in and set it on the table.

“Thanks Bruce. I appreciate it!” Briella said.

Kason and Aubrie walked in not long after, laughing and teasing each other. Aubrie looked like she was floating on air. “Hey, we’re back!” Kason shouted. He looked over at Briella, and saw how tired she looked. He went and sat on the couch next to her, and gave her a peck on the cheek. “How’re you feeling?”

“I’m a little tired, but your mom and dad have been taking good care of me,” Briella said, trying to stifle a yawn.

“Well, we’re going to head out now. It’s been a long day and I think we’re all tired. Thank you for the trips. I’m sure we’ll see you again before we go on our cruise…I just love the sound of that…before we ‘cruise’!” Raelynn said, squealing with joy. She bent over Briella and kissed her cheek. “Don’t get up. We’ll see ourselves out.” She gave Kason a kiss on the forehead and ruffled his dark hair.

“Thanks guys. Kason, take good care of her!” Bruce said.

“I will, don’t worry. You’re welcome, and thank you for our gifts too,” Kason said to his mom and dad.

“Wow, how can I ever thank you guys properly for my car and the trip to New York? You are the best brother and sister-in-law that a girl could have!” Aubrie said, hugging Briella and Kason again. “I’ll come over tomorrow and visit. Is that alright?”

“Sure, we’ll be here!” Kason said.

Kason’s family left, leaving them alone at last. “If you’re too tired, we can exchange our gifts tomorrow or something,” Kason said to Briella.

“I’m feeling better now. Let’s just carry on,” Briella declared.

“Okay, here’s the first one.” Kason handed Briella an envelope. The handwriting on the outside said, ‘To Mommy, Love, the Twins.’ Briella grinned as she opened the envelope. Inside were ten gift certificates, each for one day at the local spa. “You get to go whenever you want. They’ll give you a facial, a massage, a pedicure and manicure, a mud bath, and anything else that I forgot.”

“That’s great!” Briella hugged him hard. “Think they do prenatal massage?”

“I know they do!” he said, and kissed her.

  “Thank you, Country Boy.”

  “But that’s not all.”

Kason handed Briella a small box. She opened it up and found a key. “What’s with keys today?” Briella joked. “I already have a car, Kason.”

“The key is for this.” Kason took out a picture from the drawer in the coffee table in front of the couch and handed it to Briella. “It’s a cabin, just outside of New York City. It’s ours, and we’re going there next week. I figured everyone else will be gone, so why shouldn’t we go somewhere? I checked with your doctor already, and he said it’s still safe for you to fly.”

Briella stared at the picture. “Wow…it’s beautiful! It’s ours, as in you bought it?”

“Yes, we own it. It’s pretty rustic right now, but it does have heat, electricity and running water. I’m going to have some major reconstruction done, but it’ll do for now. Now, any time you wish to go back to New York, you’ll have somewhere to stay.”

“You’re simply the best husband in the whole world, you know that?” Briella asked, as she kissed Kason all over his face.

“I am trying!” he declared, laughing.

“It’s time for your presents,” Briella said, getting up off the couch and taking Kason’s hand. She led him to the locked game room that he hadn’t been allowed to go into for the past week. She unlocked the door and turned the light on.

Kason’s old pool table had been replaced with a bigger, fancier model. Instead of looking like it belonged in a bar, this pool table had wooden sides with intricate carvings throughout. Beyond the pool table was a new foosball table, and standing against the wall was a full sized, refurbished Pac-Man arcade game, with two ‘Stern’ pinball machines on either side.

“Wow, you’ve turned the game room into the perfect arcade!” Kason said, running into the room and looking over every inch of his new toys. .

“You don’t mind that I got rid of your old pool table, do you?” Briella asked.

“Not at all. This one is awesome! I have never seen anything as cool as this table,” Kason told her, gliding his hands over the velvet.

“Well, I’m glad you like it. I wasn’t sure.”

“I love it. Now, how about you go sit on top of the pool table, and I’ll be right back?” Kason tapped the table with his hand and smiled at her.

Briella looked at him confused, but did as he said. She watched as Kason came back with the video camera. He set it up on a stand, then hit record.

“What are you doing?” she asked, already giggling.

“What do you think?” he laughed.

  “Christening the pool table?”

“I figured it was more comfortable than the pinball machine.”

Briella laughed and pulled at Kason’s shirt as he began to kiss her. He broke the kiss to allow her to pull it off, and began to unbutton her shirt.

“This is so naughty,” she murmured. He lowered Briella to the pool table, kissing down her neck and stomach until he reached the waistband of her pants. He gripped the top of her pants and slid them down her legs, stripping out of his pants as well.

Kason knelt down so that his face was level with the edge of the table top, and went to work on Briella’s ‘center’. Briella clenched the smooth wood of the table and arched up to him. The sensations were heightened by the fact that they were in a new place - a kinky place - and there was a camera on them. That alone was enough to make Briella come fast.

When the pleasure had finished coursing through her, Kason stood up and pulled Briella back into a sitting position, bringing her closer to the edge of the table.

Kason was more than ready. He kissed her deeply as he entered her, both of them shuddering with the pleasure of being joined together again. He stood in front of her, pumping slowly at first and then wildly, as she arched her back and groaned with pleasure. Briella screamed Kason’s name as she rode through another orgasm, sending Kason over the edge himself.

As soon as Kason came down from his euphoric high, he walked over and turned the camcorder off.

“What a video that was,” he said with a grin. “I feel like a porn star.”

“You felt like one!” she said, laughing.

He walked back over to Briella, picked her up and carried her up to bed. She was completely drained, and fell right to sleep, cuddled in Kason’s arms.

Briella and Kason spent New Year’s at their new cabin. It wasn’t as rustic as Kason had thought, but it wasn’t luxurious either. It was a rather spacious two bedroom log cabin, situated in the Catskills, next to a lake. Kason planned on expanding it by adding two more bedrooms and another bathroom, and increasing the size of the master bedroom. Though there was already a fireplace in the living room, Kason wanted one in the master bedroom too. Their week at the cabin was quiet and relaxing, and just what they both of them needed.

When they returned to Texas, they were happy to see that everyone else was back too. Raelynn and Bruce had really enjoyed their cruise. Aubrie loved her time in New York, but only because she was there with Jordan. Dexter and Mila were tanned, but not much had developed in their relationship, or non-relationship. Mila was still adamant that they see other people, even though she still hadn’t dated anyone else. Dexter looked tired and frustrated, but tried not to show it.

A month later, Briella and Kason were sitting in the doctor’s office again. Briella’s stomach was much larger at this point, and she was becoming increasingly uncomfortable. She was having a difficult time sleeping at night, and it was getting harder and harder for her to move around. She wasn’t sure if she could wait three more months for
her babies to arrive.

The ultrasound tech led Briella and Kason back to the small, dark room. “Well, you know the drill. Are we finding out the sexes today?”

“Yes, it’s part of my husband’s birthday present.” She lay down on the table and lifted her shirt over her stomach and pulled her pants below her bulging belly.

“Okay, we’ll see what we can find!” the tech said, as she spread some gel on Briella’s bare stomach. She moved the wand around, trying to get a clear picture of the babies. “Well, their hearts are beating strong. I see four hands and four feet. Everything looks perfect. Are you sure you want to know the sexes?”

“Yes, we definitely want to know.”

“Well, I see a couple of extra appendages. It appears to me that you’re having boys.”

“Twin boys? Oh man, we’re in for it now!” Briella laughed.

She looked over at Kason, who had a huge smile spread across his face. “Happy Birthday, Country Boy!”

Kason leaned down and kissed his wife. “Are you happy?”

“Extremely,” Briella said, as tears came.

After the tech finished and printed out their pictures, Briella and Kason left the doctor’s office and went to a hardware store to get paint for the nursery. “Now that we know we’re having boys, we can get started on their room.” Briella said. They picked out a soft blue color, and bought some white as well.

“Mila said that as her present to us, she’s going to decorate the nursery. All we needed to do was supply the paint,” Briella told him. “And, since that chore is done, it’s time to move onto your other birthday present.”

Once they got back home, she led Kason to his study. She opened the door and there sat a beautiful antique architect table and matching desk. “I hope you like it, I can’t take it back. I can’t take the sex of the babies back either, so you’re stuck with both!” Briella said.

“I love everything. You’re so good to me!” Kason said, as he leaned over and kissed her. “This has been the best birthday ever!”

March came, and Briella was waddling. By the time of her baby shower, Briella was on partial bed rest. Her doctor was being overly cautious with her, since she was so small before she got pregnant, and now she was carrying twins. He didn’t want her to go into premature labor.

Mila had spent the last couple of weeks decorating the nursery, painting the walls blue, with white clouds starting at the top of the walls and heading up the ceiling, bits of blue sky peeking through the fluffy white clouds when you looked up. She had placed decorations throughout the room, making it a handsome boy’s nursery.

The day of the baby shower, Raelynn, Aubrie, Stella, and Mila were all running about the house getting everything organized. Briella spent the whole time in bed, wishing she was able to help them. As the guests started to arrive, Kason brought Briella down from their bedroom. He was going to stay with Briella, even though guys weren’t usually welcome at showers.

Briella and Kason opened presents, and were overwhelmed at the generosity of their friends and family. They played a few games that were standard at baby showers, and ate a large lunch. Everyone was impressed at how good Kason was with Briella. Some of them had known him since he was little, and he had never doted on any woman that way.

Later that night, Kason and Briella lay in bed discussing baby names. “Well, I don’t want their names to be too close. I hate it when people name their twins ‘Bill and Phil’ or ‘Jim and Tim’. I want them to have individual names…I want them to realize they will always be individuals, rather than just one part of the twins. Does that make sense?” Briella said.

“I understand. You want them to be themselves, and not just ‘one of a set’. I completely agree.”

“Well, how about Kamden Bruce for one of them. Your middle name and your dad’s name…do you like that?”

“Yeah, that’ll work. I like Jayce Remington too,” Kason said.

“Gee, that was easy. Why do people always say it’s hard to come up with names for their kids?”

Kason put his hand on Briella’s large stomach. “Well Jayce and Kamden…how do you like your names?”

Briella jumped as one of the babies kicked her. “I’m not sure if that was a good kick or a bad kick, but they’ll get used to it!” Briella said, rubbing the spot where she was kicked. “They’ll either be soccer players or football players. Someone’s got a pretty strong kick!”

“Hey! Be good in there! Don’t make me have to punish you before you get out of mommy’s belly,” Kason admonished. “Man, the disobedience in there!”

Briella laughed and kissed Kason goodnight.

  Chapter Twenty-Two

Briella lay in her bed watching Mila apply makeup in the bathroom. Mila was getting ready for her first date since she and Dexter had broken up, and she had asked Briella if she could get ready at her house, to avoid tension with Dexter.

“Are you sure that you want to do this Mila? You know, no one would blame you if you changed your mind and got back together with Dexter,” Briella called to her.

“I’m sure. Besides, Dexter’s gone out with a few different women already. Why can’t I go out and have fun?” Mila told her. “This really is for the best. It’s so obvious that he never really loved me.”

“Mila, you know Dexter loved you. I don’t know why you’re acting this way.”

“Well, if he really loved me, don’t you think he would have fought to keep me? He just accepted everything I said, and even agreed with me. I mean, during the vacation that you and Kason gave us, we spent most of the time apart. It was like he couldn’t stand to be near me. Just further indication that we weren’t meant to be,” Mila said, partly angry, partly hurt.

“So that’s what all this is about? He didn’t fight hard enough to stay with you?”

“Part of it. But it doesn’t matter now. I’m just glad I figured things out before we got in too deep,” Mila said, then walked out of the bathroom. “So, how do I look?”

“You look pretty, but it’s the way you’re acting that’s ugly!” Briella told her. “I can’t believe that you won’t give Dexter a chance just because he didn’t fight hard enough for you. You are insane!”

“Yeah, well, it just proved that he didn’t love me very much,” Mila said softly. “I’ve got to go. I’m going to be late. Thanks for letting me use your bathroom.”

Mila turned and left the bedroom before Briella could say anything else.

Briella lay there for a few moments. She listened to Mila’s car rolling down the driveway, taking her closer to her date with someone other than Dexter.

Briella sighed and moved to the edge of the bed, trying to get up to use the bathroom. As she rolled to her side, a piercing pain ripped through her middle. The pain was so intense that she immediately thought she might throw up. It was a searing pain, worse than being shot, worse than any tattoo, worse than anything she could imagine.

“Kason!” Briella screamed shrilly, with all her might.

Kason came running up the stairs. He saw his wife lying on the bed, gripping her stomach with tears running down her face. “Oh my God, Briella!”

“I was just trying to go to the bathroom, and now I’m afraid to move. There’s so much pain!” Briella sobbed.

  “What can I do?”

“Get an ambulance,” Briella choked out.

Kason reached over for the phone on the side of the bed and dialed 9-1-1. He told them the emergency, and they said they’d be there as soon as possible. Briella was clutching her belly and moaning, her face pale.

Next he called Briella’s OB/GYN to let him know what was happening. The doctor told Kason to pack a bag for Briella, that she would most likely be having the babies when she reached the hospital. The next call Kason made was to his family, telling them to meet him at the hospital.

Kason held Briella the whole time he was on the phone, trying to comfort her. He yelled to Stella to pack a bag for Briella. The ambulance arrived soon after Kason go
t off the phone. The EMTs took one look at her and swung into high speed, getting her on the stretcher and down to the ambulance. Kason held Briella’s hand, letting her know that he was there and that everything would be fine. They finally arrived at the hospital, and Briella was rolled into one of the exam rooms in the ER.

A few minutes later, the doctor came in to see Briella and Kason. The nurses had hooked Briella up to a few different monitors, and when he got there he checked the readouts. “Looks like you’re going to become parents today, Mr. And Mrs. Harris!”

“I know I don’t know what I’m talking about, but I don’t think these are really contractions that I’m having Dr. Neil,” Briella panted. “They’re more like ripping pains.”

“Well, everyone feels something different. As far as I can tell from the readouts, there is no apparent danger. Your blood pressure is fine, and the babies’ heartbeats are strong. We’re going to need to take you up to Labor and Delivery and have you prepped. Mr. Harris, will you be in the birthing room with her?”

“Yes! I’m not leaving her side,” Kason said.

“Well, you’ll need to get washed up, and get some scrubs on. We’re going to take Briella up now. You can meet us on the second floor. If you need to call anyone, now would be a good time. I don’t think it will be long before the babies are delivered,” Dr. Neil told him. He and a couple of nurses rolled Briella out of the exam room and into an elevator.

As Kason walked out, he heard his mother’s voice in the lobby of the Emergency Room. He walked through the swinging doors and called his mom’s name. “Mom! Briella’s in labor. There’s a waiting room on the second floor for you guys. I need to get up there now, before she has the boys without me,” Kason said, starting to get excited.

Upstairs, the nurses took Kason into a small room, where he changed into scrubs and cleaned his hands, then led him into the birthing room. As soon as he saw Briella lying in the bed, a smile spread across his face.

He went over to Briella’s bed and held her hand, as the doctor examined her progress.

“Well, this looks like it’ll be a quick birth. You’re fully dilated and fully effaced. Looks like it’s time!” Dr. Neil stated proudly.
